Inaugural Golf Tournament
Houston Roller Derby's Inaugural Golf Tournament will be held in April 7th, 2018 at Longwood Golf Course in Cypress, TX. The proceeds from the event will be used to fund equipment and expenses incurred by the league throughout the year. Since starting 2005, Houston Roller Derby (HRD) has grown into a league of more than 120 skaters operating as completely volunteer, nonprofit organization. The league consists of four home teams, two travel teams, a junior league and a recreational league. The HRD All-Stars is Houston's Dream Team - the league's most talented and dedicated skates picked from its four home teams to play against other leagues across the U.S. and internationally. The HRD All-Stars is currently ranked as one of the top 50 team in the world by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
In addition, HRD hosts several additional programs, including Co-ed derby, monthly open scrimmages and area-wide bootcamps. HRD's Junior Derby league aims to create opportunity for children under the age of 18 to explore health, leadership, and fun while learning the world's fastest growing sport. HRD also works with various charties throughout the year.
Houston Rollergirls inc., dba Houston Roller Derby, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Texas.

About the 4 man scramble:
The most common golf tournament format used with fundraising events and business-related golf is called a "scramble". It's often often called the "four-man scramble" or "Florida scramble". This popular tournament allows a team of four to select the best shot in each individual series of hits. Then the entire foursome will take their next shot from this location. This pattern continues to the end of each hole. Keep in mind that when playing a scramble, you can drop your ball within one club length from where the chosen ball lies, but no closer to the hole. The advantage of a scramble golf tournament format is that each team will get its best possible score while wasting no time trying to locate balls hit into trees, sand traps, creeks, etc. (source: https://www.golfregistrations.com/app/s/golf-tournament-formats/index.cfm)
