: Arc Nemesis

Number: 42

Years played: 2nd season

How did you first hear about and start playing roller derby? About 6 years ago I was living in Ohio and I saw derby girls skating in a parade. I said, "I want to do that!" Fast forward a few years...I moved to Houston, settled in, and decided to sign up for the HRD boot camps to give derby a try.

Theme song: "The Distance" by Cake

Likes: Hiking and backpacking, "This Week Tonight" with John Oliver, and hamburgers with a fried egg on top

Dislikes: Steely Dan, radio stations that play only Christmas carols during the holidays, and stupid suburban street names (e.g. Saddle Horn Drive, Smiling Woods Lane, Unicorns Horn Lane, Gentle Moss Lane, Snowflower Meadow Lane - these are real!)

Injuries sustained during derby? Nothing major - just a tailbone injury that took 6 weeks to heal, and a torn quad muscle

Fun facts: I have backpacked in Alaska (on a trail only accessible by three-seater plane), throughout West Virginia, and across Zion National Park in Utah.

My parents are both art teachers, but I am a welding engineer.

I was born and raised in Iowa, and since graduating from college there, I have lived in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Tennessee, Ohio - and now Texas.
